For the upper eyelid an incision is made in the natural crease above the eyelids. Excess fat, muscle and skin is then trimmed away and the incisions closed with tiny sutures.
For the lower eyelid the incision is made at the point of the lower eyelashes. Loose skin is pulled upwards and outwards to make it tighter and again the excess skin trimmed away and held in place with fine sutures.
A general anaesthetic is required for this surgery and therefore an overnight stay. The surgery itself takes between 1 – 3 hours.
