Age shows more on your face than on any other part of the body and the area around the eyes can show more age than on any other part of the face. Eyelid Surgery can have a massive impact on how old you look and it can take years off your face giving you a more youthful and vital appearance. Our surgeons in Thailand have a lot of experience with eyelid surgery and the costs for this particular type of surgery are much lower than in Western countries. It is also possible to have eyelid surgery in Thailand performed under a local anesthetic rather than a general anesthetic which has several health benefits; this is not always a possibility with surgeons in other countries. Deciding to have eyelid surgery in Thailand is therefore a good option.
There are two different types of eyelid surgery; upper eyelid and lower eyelid surgery. For the upper eyelid surgery, the incision is made in the natural crease above the eyelids. Excess skin, fat and muscle are trimmed away and the incisions are then closed with tiny sutures. For lower eyelid surgery the incision is made at the point of the lower eyelashes, loose skin is pulled outwards and upwards to make it tighter and again the excess skin, fat and muscle is trimmed away and held in place with fine sutures.
For the first few days after Eyelid Surgery, there will be swelling and tenderness also with some light bruising. You can also request pain killers if the pain is persisting. To encourage the healing process, your surgeon may use ointment, eye-drops and bandages. 5-7 days after surgery you will have a follow up appointment with your surgeon to remove the sutures. When you get home you should be fine to return the work although we recommend no strenuous activity for at least one month.
As with face Lift Surgery, Eyelid Surgery is one of the most commonly performed cosmetic surgeries and is generally done without complications, however all surgeries can carry an element of risk. All of these risks are minimized by experienced surgical technique, specialist care and by using highly qualified surgeons and staff.
Here at Lotus Medical International your safety and well-being is our number one priority, we will be here to guide you through you surgery and journey here in Thailand every step of the way.
